Hazel Orrell Lanning

Mrs. Hazel Louise Orrell Lanning of South NC Highway 150, Linwood, in the Churchland Community, died Sunday at her residence. She was 87 Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Smith Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Lanning was born in Davidson County, NC on October 29, 1920 to the late Grover Cleveland Orrell and Minnie Smith Orrell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Homemaker Sunday School Class at her church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Spencer Chapter 31. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband, Troy Woodrow Lanning, sisters, Mae Staley and Thelma Allred and brothers, Walter Orrell, Roy Orrell, and Herman Orrell. Mrs. Lanning is survived by a son, Kenny Lanning and his wife, Sandra of the Churchland Community, a sister, Dorothy Koontz of Lexington, a brother, Howard Orrell and his wife Ethel of Lexington. Also surviving are grandchildren, Cindy Smith and her husband, Terry, Kenny Lanning, Jr. and fiancé, Janet and Woody Lanning, and his wife, Lisa, Great Grandchildren, Nikki Cope, Kailee Fine and her husband, Chris, Hunter Lanning and Harley Jones, Great Great Grandchildren, Ryder Fine, Chloe Fine, Peyton Hawks, and Gracie Cope. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Smith Grove Baptist Church, and other times will be at the home of her son, Kenny Lanning. 9538 S.
