Mr. David Harold Kinney Sr., age 83 of Brown Street, Lexington, NC died Thursday, December 24 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington after an extended illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 28 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Frankie Matthews. Burial with Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post 3074 will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Kinney was born December 30, 1925 in Rowan County to Curtis V. Kinney and Edna Gullet Kinney. He was a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church and the Wide Awake Bible Class. He was a retired service manager for Carolane Gas Company where he worked for 33 years. Harold was a World War II veteran of the U S Navy and served in Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was a member of American Legion Post # 8, the VFW Post 3074 and AMVET Post 13. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Mr. Kinney is survived by his wife Sylvia Smith Kinney of the home; a son, David Harold Kinney, Jr. of Lexington; grandchildren Paul Kinney and wife Tonya, Kerri Beth Kinney and Christy Williamson and husband Sean and 4 great grandchildren. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
