Grace Beck

Grace Hendricks Lanier Beck, 92, of The Brian Center of Lexington died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the nursing home. A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Terry Smith. Burial will follow at Fulton United Methodist Church Cemetery in Davie County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home, and other times at their respective homes. Mrs. Beck was born March 11, 1922 in Forsyth County to George and Ida Scott Hendricks. A faithful member of Reeds Baptist Church, she enjoyed taking part in church activities and was well-loved by all who knew her. A retired clerk for Eckerd Drug, she loved to quilt, sew, cook, and can vegetables from her garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Melvin Lanier, and husband Roy Lee Beck, Also preceding her in death were sisters Margaret Ashley and Ruth Sloan, son-in-law Franklin Koontz, and daughter-in-law Ruby Beck. Surviving are sons Rev. Jerry Beck of Tar Heel, Don Lanier (Gwen) of the Fork Community of Davie County, Ronald Beck (Beverly) and Dennis Lanier (Becky) all of Lexington; daughters, Carol Whitaker (Gary) of Lexington, and Judy Koontz of Churchland; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
