Glenn Wilson

Mr. Glenn Wilson, 89, of Arbor Drive, died Monday, August 8, at the Hinkle Hospice House after a brief illness. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, August 12 at the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jay Belk. Burial with military rites will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at Piedmont Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson was born September 14, 1921 in Yancey County to Jack and Suetta Metcalf Wilson. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in World War II and retired from Dixie Furniture after 39 ½ years. He was also a longtime member of St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church. His great grandchildren, Jessica Wilson and Joshua Wilson, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Foard Wilson of the home; his son, Jerry Wilson of Lexington; his grandchildren, Annette Barnes, Julie Wilson, Kyle Wilson, and Zachary Wilson; his great grandchildren, Jacob Barnes, Jordan Barnes, and Jillian Wilson; and his sister, Phoebe Sparks of Front Royal, VA.
