George William Brooks

George William Brooks, 78, a resident of Brookgreen Drive, Lexington, died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 14, 2007 from the Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tom King officiating. Entombment will follow in the Church Columbarium. Mr. Brooks was born in Vigo County, Indiana on February 3, 1929 to the late George Monroe Brooks and the late Goldie Fay Busby Brooks. He was a veteran, having retired from the US Navy and later retired as Director of the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. Mr. Brooks was a member of American Legion Post 8 and Grace Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bulmer Brooks of the home; two daughters, Kathy Johnson and her husband, Russ of Lexington; and Laura Hisamoto and her husband, Bob of Jamestown; a sister Ruth Payne of Terra Haute, Indiana; five grandchildren, Kristi Allred and her husband, Wes, Michelle Johnson, Matthew Hisamoto, Emily Hisamoto, and Jennifer Hisamoto. Also surviving is a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday following the committal service in the Commons Room of Grace Episcopal Church. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Davidson County, PO Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293-1941
