Geneva Leonard Hedrick

Geneva Elizabeth Hedrick, 91, of Bellwood Drive, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Second United Church of Christ, where she was a lifelong member, by the Rev. Jerry Moore. Mrs. Hedrick was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Davidson County to Ollie Elizabeth Craver and Cicero Leonard. At her church, she assisted in many benefit dinners until her health declined, and she still baked from home as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cicero Ray Hedrick, on Oct. 27, 2005, after 67 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ervin, Connie and Ed Leonard, and three sisters, Ethel Chapman, Gladys Kinney and Helen Everhart. She is survived by her son, Donald R. Hedrick and his wife, Patricia C., of Roswell, Ga.; a grandson, Bryan K. Hedrick of Alpharetta, Ga.; a granddaughter, Kimberly A. Gross and her husband, Scott; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jordan and Ryan Gross, all of Reno, Nev.; a special niece and "daughter," Jerry Streetman; a devoted and caring companion, Beth Keaton; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Surviving sisters and brothers are Mary Everhart, Myrtle Whittington, Lawrence (Bus) and Finch Leonard, all of Lexington, and surviving sisters-in-law are Margaret and Theora Leonard and Sarah Hedrick. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 11, 2007 following the service in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Reformed United Church of Christ, 330 N. Church St., Lexington, NC 27292.
