Gary Thomas Stanley

Gary Thomas Stanley, 73, of Thomasville, passed away at his home on Friday, May 29.

Gary was born on May 7, 1953, in Tacoma, Washington, to the late Delpha Scott Stanley and Lucy Ann Iman Stanley.

He worked in the construction industry for many years. Gary enjoyed working with his hands and spent much of his free time leatherworking. He also had a lifelong appreciation for bows and arrows, hunting knives, and other outdoor collectibles, often enjoying tinkering with and caring for them. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Stanley.

Gary is survived by his wife, Carolyn Vest Stanley, of the home; his son, Steve Stanley, and daughter-in-law, Kim, of Trinity; and his stepdaughter, Joan Dockery, of Wallburg. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Sabien Stanley, Shane Hinson, Bethany Dockery, and Jaelynn Dockery.

Additional survivors include his brothers, Tim Stanley of Asheboro and Delpha Scott Stanley of Wallburg; his sisters, Brenda Jessie of Trinity and Debbie Turner of Thomasville; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial graveside service will be held at his wife's family cemetery in Madams Creek, West Virginia.
