Fred Brooks Golding

April 29, 1946 — February 11, 2018

Fred Brooks “Freddie” Golding , Jr., 71, of Lions Way, Black Mountain, died Sunday February 11, 2018 at Marjorie McCune Memorial Center in Black Mountain.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday February 21, 2018 at Fairmont Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Brian Rummage officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Freddie was born in Richmond,Va. on April 29, 1946 to the late Fred Golding, Sr. and Rose Leonard Golding. He moved to Lexington at age 6 months. Freddie attended school at the school of the blind in Raleigh. He grew up on Fairview Drive with his mother and step- father Carey “Go Boy” Cecil, whom he adored. Freddie spent many happy days on Happy Hill Road visiting his favorite cousin Coney and Bernice Leonard and their families. This was his favorite place to go other than Camp Dogwood.  After moving to Black Mountain he worked at Good Will Industries from which he retired. Freddie is now in heaven  playing  the piano for his family that preceded him.
