Frank Mock Shoaf, 86, of Mt. Olivet Church Road, formerly of Churchland, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Lexington. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Shaffer. Interment will be in Snider Cemetery in Churchland with military graveside rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Shoaf was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Davidson County to Prentis Cleveland and Ida Bell Snider Shoaf. He was a farmer and a retired employee from Rowe Construction after many years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Shoaf was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Surviving are his former wife of 50 years, Thelma Burkhalter Shoaf of Churchland; two daughters, Laura Ann Samuels and her husband, James, of Lexington and Catherine Furher and her husband, Paul, of Augusta, Ga.; one son, Wendell Frank Shoaf and his wife, Kathy, of Churchland; a special friend, Helen Strickland of Lexington; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at 243 Brentwood Drive, Lexington.
