Mrs. Etta Mae Bates Jackson, age 89, of Salisbury, died Thursday, August 2. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Michael Childress. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery. Mrs. Jackson was born November 9, 1917 in Davidson County to Charles Hollis Bates, Sr. and Addie Mae Helmstetler Bates. She was a retired accountant and a member of First United Church of Christ in Salisbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Scott Jackson; her son, Allen Scott Jackson; and her sisters: Mildred Morgan, Mary Virginia Ray, and Evelyn Lanning. Surviving are her grandson, Allen Scott Jackson, II of Salisbury; her great granddaughter: Makenzie Evangelina Jackson; her brother: C.H. Bates, Jr. of Lexington; her nieces: Laura Perry of Thomasville, Carol Church of Asheboro, Myra Thompson of Lexington, and Norma Cook of Raleigh; and a nephew, Jimmy Ray of Florida.
