Mrs. Etta Walser Allen, 91, a resident of Allen Road, Lexington died Wednesday, February 6, 2008, in Rowan Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 10, 2008 from Tyro United Methodist Church, with Rev. Randy Foster officiating. Interment will follow in Mocks United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Davie County. Mrs. Allen was born in Davidson County, NC on May 22, 1916, to the late George Oscar Walser and Mamie Jenkins Walser. She was retired Cafeteria Worker, retiring from the Churchland Elementary School and she was a member of Tyro United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Harrison Odell Allen, who died in June of 1973, sisters, Viola Darr, Edith Shoaf, Gladys Childress, Florence Jones, and Lucille Brooks, brothers, George Walser, Ray Walser, and Bill Walser, and a step brother, Odell Walser. Surviving are a son, Fletcher Allen and his wife, Jackie of Lexington, daughters, Louise Snelson of Thomasville, Faye Trantham and her husband, Ronald of Lexington, Kaye Moore and her husband, Wilbur of Rockingham, a brother Bob Walser and his wife, Kay of Linwood. Also surviving are grandchildren, Randy Sowers of Thomasville, David Trantham, Darren Trantham, and Steve Allen all of Lexington, Melissa Allen of Summerfield, step grandchildren, Scott Moore of Ramseur, and Tammy Hosler of Denton, Great Grandchildren, Kelly Garwood, Matthew Allen, Kristen Allen, and Garvin Trantham, Three step great grandchildren, Cody Hutchins, Maleah Moore, and Kayly Moore. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
