Esther Bailey Abernathy

Lexington: Esther Maxine Bailey Abernathy, 80, of Carolina Acres Road, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the residence of her son. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday from the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Gene Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Abernathy was born March 23, 1927 in Mercer County, West Virginia to the late John and Lessie Burrows Bailey. She was a homemaker and attended Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Tyro. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, William Luther Abernathy, Sr., a son, Dalton George, and a daughter, Jean Burrows. Surviving are two sons, Bill Abernathy, Jr., and his wife, Maria of Lexington, and Harry J. George, and his wife, Trisha of Salisbury, a daughter, Pamela Hunt of the home. Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the home of a son, Bill Abernathy, Jr., 1698 Tyro School Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
