Emma Roberts Laws

Emma Roberts Laws, 69, of Horseshoe Neck Road, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Clarence Ballew. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Laws was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Buncombe County to John Wesley Roberts and Lena Rogers Roberts. She retired from PPG Industries and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Laws. Survivors include her husband, William Laws of the home; two sons, Earl Laws of Bryson City and Willard Laws of Newport, Tenn.; a daughter, Lydia Laws of Lexington; a sister, Ellen Penley of Asheville; and two grandchildren, Elisha Laws and Becky Laws. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home.
