Eavon Janie Ward Webster, 87, of Carillon Assisted Living of HilIsborough, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Duke Hospice Inpatient Facility in Hillsborough. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jerry Moore. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Webster was born March 8, 1920, in Davidson County to the late Joseph Franklin and Annie Scott Ward. She was a retired hosiery mill worker and was a member of Second United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were one sister and two brothers. Surviving are one sister, Grace Ward Hatley of Hillsborough; one sister-in-law, MaryLouise Koontz Ward of Lexington; three nieces, Delores Hatley Bayless and her husband, Tony, of Hillsborough, Brenda Ward Thomas and her husband, Johnny, of Youngsville, and Kaye Ward Grant and her husband, Mendell, of Lowell; four nephews, John Hatley and his wife, Carolyn, of Rougemont, and Virgil Rainey and his wife, Jewel, Jimmy Rainey and Tommy Rainey, all of Greensboro; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the home of the sister-in-law, 3438 Helmstetler Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
