Early Cleveland “Cleve” Hanes, age 91, a resident of N. NC Highway 150, Lexington, died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 11:50 AM in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, August 31, 2007 in the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matthew Farabow officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Hanes was born in Davidson County, NC on December 17, 1915 to the late Thurston Titus and Minnie Victoria Leonard Hanes. He was a retired employee of G.W. Smith Lumber Company and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his wife, Minnie Pauline Walser Hanes, a sister, Vetus Koonts, and two brothers, Duff Hanes and Oake Hanes. Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Forrest and Rebecca James and her husband, Bill of Lexington, two brothers, Melvin Hanes, and Foy Hanes both of Lexington. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Teresa Tate and her husband, Dennis, Randy James and his wife, Vivian, and Keith Forrest and his wife, Reta, and one great granddaughter, Misty Tate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
