Earlene Smith Walker

Earlene Cornelia Smith Walker, 74, a resident of Commercial Drive, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Springfield, Tennessee. A graveside service will be Friday, April 3, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Brent O’Neil officiating. Mrs. Walker was born in Davidson County, NC on August 26, 1934 to the late Norman D. Smith and Florrie Effie Lopp Smith. She retired from PPG and was of the Methodist faith. She was an avid Bingo player, was an “Energizer Bunny” with a wonderful sense of humor and had a flair for politics. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband, William Henry Walker and a brother, Don W. Smith. Surviving are two sisters, Norma Smith and Elaine Marlow both of Thomasville. Also surviving are a several nieces and nephews, her special friend and caregiver, Teresa Kackley of Springfield, Tennessee and her companion Jimmie Tucker of Lexington. There will be no visitation. Memorials in Mrs. Walker’s memory may be sent to the Hospice of Davidson County, PO Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293-1941 Arrangements are under the direction of Piedmont Funeral Home.
