Douglas Wayne Meeks, 65, of Waller Road, died Monday at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Tom King officiating. Internment will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 P.M. Thursday at Piedmont Funeral Home. Mr. Meeks was born in Forsyth County July 27, 1947 to the late George Washington Meeks and Gurtrude Fletcher Meeks. He was retired from the United States Marine Corp., where he held the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Surviving are his wife, Lynn Reudelhuber Meeks of the home; daughters, Gina Marie Meeks of Germanton, Tamara Lynn Meeks of Lexington, and Barbara Nicole Walter and husband Brandon of Delaware, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Cody Lee Crews, Paycence Marie Meeks, Christen McKay Crews, Christopher Levi Craver, Dakota Carson Lamb and Victoria Nicole Walter.
