Douglas Alan "Doug" Helmstetler

Douglas Alan “Doug” Helmstetler, 65, of Bigun Drive, Linwood died Tuesday evening, May 5, 2015 at Novant Health-Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte. A memorial service will be Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Tyro United Methodist Church by the Rev. Randy Foster. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM Saturday at the church. Doug was born October 20, 1949 in Guilford County to Dewey Glen and Dorothy “Dot” Way Helmstetler. A long distance truck driver, he was owner of LaRose Trucking Company, LLC, and attended Tyro United Methodist Church. An avid gardner and very good cook, he liked to share his abundance of love with everyone. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife LaRose Phillips Helmstetler of the home; son Jeremy Alan Helmstetler (Mary Ann) of Lexington; daughter Andrea Lynn Helmstetler Furr (Will) of Charlotte; brother Clifford Helmstetler (friend Lisa) of Lexington; sister, Carolyn Helmstetler Pressley (Kent) of Lexington; and five grandchildren, Crystal Pierce Maisel (Scott), Cerise Furr, Jeremy Helmstetler, Jr., Emily Helmstetler, and Nicholas Helmstetler.
