Dorothy James Tesh, 85, of Robert Floyd Drive, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Lexington Memorial Hospital. A family graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Lighthouse Baptist Church Cemetery in Welcome by Rev. Avery Varnadore and Mr. Jim Bates. Ms. Tesh was born October 19, 1922, in Davidson County to Orville Joseph and Dora Thomason James. She was a graduate of Welcome School and Draughn's Business School in Winston Salem. She was previously employed as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward, worked for the Federal Census Bureau, as well as Gibson's Department Store. She was a charter member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and donated the land on which the church is built. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Willis Ardell James, and sister, Ruth Dare James She is survived by two daughters, Rosa Reeser of Akron, PA and Shelley Essick and her husband Dempsey of Lexington; five grandchildren, Ginger Pulliam and her husband Wayne of Randleman, Monica Creed and her husband Toby of Greensboro, Holly Martin and her husband Gary of Ephrata, PA, John D Essick, Jr and his wife Amber of Waco, TX and Elizabeth Essick and husband Donald of Fayetteville, NC; five great -grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Smith and husband Wilbur of Lexington, Scarlett Skowronski of Lexington, and JoAnn Davis of Salt Springs, FL. Up unto the end, Ms. Tesh paid her own bills, completed Search-a-Word puzzles, and enjoyed the music of Daniel O'Donnell, but her greatest joy was the attention and nurturing she received from her dear neighbors at Mount Moriah.
