Dorothy Wilson “Dot” McBride, age 89, a resident South NC Highway 150, Linwood, died at 5:00 AM Tuesday in Alston Brook. Funeral services will be conducted 7 PM Thursday, June 21, 2007 from the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Howell IV, and Rev. Dale Martin officiating. A committal service will be at 10:00 AM Friday in the Lomax Cemetery in Churchland. Mrs. McBride was born in Davidson County, NC on September 9, 1917 to the late Willie Eugene and Dora Belle Lomax Wilson. She was a homemaker and was a member of Churchland Baptist Church. She was a member of the Dorcas Bible Class at her church. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Hugh McBride, a brother, Hollis Wilson, and a sister, Catherine Wilson Davis. She is survived by a son, Jim McBride and his wife, Frances of Knoxville, Tennessee; three sisters, Willie Mae Bowen, Lee Crowell and Muriel Everhart, and her husband, C.J. all of Lexington. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Martha Freeman and her husband, Jeff of Alpharetta, Georgia; and Sherry Jarnagin and her husband, Terry of Huntsville, Alabama; two great grandchildren, Sarah and Hayley Jarnagin. The family will received friends Thursday following the service at Piedmont Funeral Home.
