Mrs. Dorothy Lee Mitchell Gibson, 86 of Garden Drive, went home to be with the Lord, on Monday, May 26, 2008 at her home after a critical illness of two months. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 29, 2008, at the Second Presbyterian Church, Lexington, by the Rev. Bill Sosebee and Rev. Brian Alexander. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. Mrs. Gibson was born in Davidson County on August 14, 1921 to the late James Calvin Mitchell and Lydia Etta Money Mitchell. She was retired from Dacotah Mills and was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, where she was an active member of her Circle Group. In addition to her parents preceding her in death, was her husband Rupert Lee Gibson, Jr., one son Richard James “Buddy” Gibson, two brothers, Troy Mitchell, and Cecil Mitchell, two sisters, Ruby Mae Mitchell and Edith Mitchell Story. Surviving are three sons, Ricky Gibson and his wife, Judy, Robbie Gibson and his wife, Revonda, Steve Gibson and his wife, Marla all of Lexington, three grandchildren, Brandi Nicole Gibson and her fiancé, Billy Hall, Ricky Wayne Gibson and his wife, Kathy, Kenneth David Gibson and his wife, Misty all of Lexington. Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Brittny, Randi, Lacey, and Jared all of Lexington, Aaron of Abingdon, Virginia, a sister in-law, Peggy Kepley of Lexington, a brother in-law, Brondell Gibson and his wife of Thomasville, a niece, Tanger Young and her husband, Bobby of Lexington and many other family members who loved her dearly. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the home.
