Donnie Tate

Mr. Donnie Day Tate, 60, of Bethany Road, passed away Saturday, November 5 at the Hinkle Hospice House. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, November 7 at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Gary Foster, who the family would like to thank for his phone calls and visits to Donnie during his illness. There will be no public visitation but the family will receive friends at home. Mr. Tate was born August 13, 1951 in Forsyth County to Lonnie and Mabel Slaydon Tate. Donnie served in the US Army from 1974-1976 and was a former employee of Council Craftsmen in Denton and TRS Furniture in Thomasville. He was an avid fisherman up until the time of his illness. His brothers, Bobby Tate, Richard Gray Tate, and his twin brother, Ronnie “Peanut” Tate, and his sisters, Bonnie Tate Crissman, Jewel Tate Hedrick, and Ellen Tate Ashby, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Jeanine Heitman Tate of the home; his son, Matthew Tate and wife, Alisa, of Chadborn; his daughter, Kari Martin of Lexington; and his grandchildren, Lauren Tate and Emily Stacy; his mother-in law, Doris Heitman of Lexington; his brother, William D. “Billy” Tate of Lexington, and a very special brother-in-law and sister in law, Tim and Lily Heitman of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292 or to Reeds United Methodist Church General Fund, 4731 W. Old Highway 64, Lexington NC 27292. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care, compassion, and love shown to them and Donnie from Hospice of Davidson County and the nurses and staff of the Hinkle Hospice House.
