David Ralph Kephart

David Ralph Kephart,93, of Old Linwood Road, died Tuesday at his home.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday September 23, 2019 at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dearl Bunce officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at Piedmont Funeral Home.  Mr. Kephart was born in Cherokee County on June 23, 1926 to the late Allen Dewey Kephart and Artie Azelea Almond Kephart. He was a retired school teacher with the Lexington City Schools and was a WW II veteran serving in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Virginia Hembree Kephart, daughter, Amy Bailey, brother, Robert D. Kephart, son in law, James York.  Surviving are daughter, Susan York of Lexington, brother, Rev. Kenneth Kephart of Murphy, NC, grandchildren, Jenifer Burns, Jesse York and Sarah York, four great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.  Memorials may be made to, Coggins Memorial Baptist Church, 1306 South Main St., Lexington, NC 27292.
