Cleo Dowell Owens

Cleo Dowell Owens,96, of Lexington, passed away Saturday August 15, 2020 at Hospice of the Piedmont. Graveside service will be held at 9:00 AM Saturday August 22, 2020 at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Tammy Talbert officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Owens was born in on June 20, 1924 to the late Ernest Ed Dowell and Edna Newsom Dowell. She was a lifelong member of Macedonia United Methodist Church where she served on various committees. She was a retired seamstress with Salem Company. She graduated from James A. Gray High School in 1942 and married her late husband Forrest Cleveland Owens on November 14, 1943. Surviving are her sons, Wayne Owens (Irene) and Gary Owens (Bonnie) of Lexington, Debbie Moffitt (Ron) of Lexington, sister, Sylvia Hester of Winston Salem, grandchildren, Dawn Owens Johnson (Jason), Dwayne Owens (Julie), Shane Owens, Stephanie Owens, Brian Owens (Tammy), Jamie Owens Freeman (James) Doni Cody Hatchel (Jeff), Kara Cody and Will Cody (Beth), 13 great-grandchildren and 9 great great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank everyone who was kind and loving to Cleo in her last years and gave her love from the heart.
