Claude Lee Hinkle, 61, of Welcome, died Saturday, November 8, at Forsyth Medical Center after heart complications. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 11 from the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Clyde Akers. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Hinkle was born August 4, 1947 in Davidson County to John William Hinkle, Sr. and Ruby Holleman Hinkle. He was a 1965 graduate of North Davidson High School and was a contractor. Claude enjoyed fishing at the coast and loved NASCAR, particularly Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Claude was a friend to everyone and loved by all who knew him. He will be missed greatly. Although he never served in the military, he was very devoted to veteran organizations in Davidson County and was a member of the Amvets. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his girlfriend, Tammy Michael; his brothers, John W. Hinkle, Jr. and girlfriend, Janice Jenkins of Winston-Salem, Charles McClure Hinkle of Lexington and Michael Hinkle and wife, Dorothy of Asheboro; his sister, Brenda Hinkle Lemly of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home of the sister, 505 Legion Club Road, Lexington.
