Christine Koonts Smith

Christine Koonts Smith, 87, of Highway 64 West died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at High Point Regional Health Systems. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Reeds Baptist Church, where she was a member, conducted by the Rev. Henry Watterson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Smith was born in Davidson County February 15, 1929 to Willie “Will” Roscoe and Lelia Daisy Cross Koonts. She retired from Dakotah Cotton Mill. Her parents preceded her in death. Surviving are her loving husband of 69 years, James Smith of the home; daughter Judy Smith Bennett (Randy) of Taylorsville; sons Jerry D. Smith (Karen) and Ricky Banks Smith all of Lexington; 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, twin sister, Maxine Koonts Yarborough of Lexington; and Christine's faithful canine companion Muffin of the home.
