Chok Tumka, age 82, of Lexington, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 28 at 11:40 AM at his home. He was born July 1, 1924 at the Donoy Village of Thar Puok Province, Cambodia. He became a Buddhist monk in 1964 and came to the United States in 1986. Mr. Tumka was the head of the Buddhist Monastery at Lexington’s Wat Kamararukharam. He was also the President of their honorary committee, and was seen as the father of all Cambodian people for the last 10 years. His funeral service will be held at the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 1:30 PM.
