Charlie Hicks Temple

June 21, 1938 — February 29, 2012

Charlie Hicks Temple, 73, of Clell Drive died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Beulah United Church of Christ, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mike Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 1:30-2:30 pm prior to the service. At other times they will be at the home of daughter Vicki Parker on Clell Drive. Mr. Temple was born June 21, 1938, in Davidson County to the late Sinco Jack and Ruby Hicks Temple. A Veteran of the US Navy, he was a retired forklift driver for Owens-Illinois and a member of Amvets Post 760. He was also a former usher at his church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Albert Temple, and one sister Becky Hedrick. He is survived by his wife, Justina Teague Temple of the home; son, Jerry Temple of Lexington; two daughters, Vicki Parker and husband Joe of Lexington, and Pam Clark of Concord. Also surviving are two brothers, William Temple and wife Brenda, and Jack Temple both of Lexington; four sisters, Peggy Bates and husband Donald, Genny Shaw and husband Robin, all of Lexington, Daisy Briggs of Clemmons, and Cathy Knotts and husband Ray of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Christy Hinkle, Amanda Kepley and husband Shane, and Charles Junior Leonard; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha Hinson, Paris Hinson, Katie Kepley, and Jesse Kepley.
