Carl McCray Freeman, Sr., 92, formerly of Horseshoe Neck Road, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Brookstone Terrace in Clemmons. A funeral service will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Baptist Church, where he attended, by Pastor David Wooten. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM at the church before the service. Mr. Freeman was born in Gaston County November 28, 1923 to Leonard Allen and Carrie Edwards Freeman. He was a retired sales agent for Lawson Products with over 25 years of service, and was previously the branch manager for sales for the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Company for 25 years. A very generous and kind-hearted man, he was a wonderful, loving father and grandfather and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and making repairs at his mobile home park. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby S. Freeman in 2008, daughter “Freddie” Gravitt, sisters Dorothy Elizabeth Grubb, Christine Johnson, and Nancy Johnson, and brother Eartle Freeman. Surviving are son Carl McCray “Ray” Freeman, Jr. (Marie) of Lexington; daughter Carla Odette of Winston-Salem; his only pride and joy, granddaughter, Brittany Caitlyn Odette and fiance’ Scott King of Wallburg; and brother L.A. Freeman of Lexington.
