Boyd Clement Gobble

Mr. Boyd Clement “Dick” Gobble, age 91, a resident of N. NC Highway 150, Lexington, died Thursday, June 7, 2007 in Lexington Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday from the Friendship United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carroll C. Lupton, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Gobble was born in Davie County on August 16, 1915 to the late William and Essie Shoaf Gobble. He had formerly owned and operated B.C. Gobble Sand and Hauling and had retired from Gobble-Callahan Concrete after twenty-three years of service. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, where he was the oldest living man, and was a member of the Men’s Bible Class. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were a son, Charles Clement Gobble, four brothers, Lonnie Gobble, Harvey Gobble, John Gobble, and George Gobble, and one sister, Edna Beauchamp. Mr. Gobble was an avid Gardner. He was a devoted husband, and family man. Mr. Gobble is survived by his loving wife of seventy years , Rebecca Wood Gobble of the home; a son, Ronald Boyd Gobble and his wife Betty of Lexington; a daughter, Annelle Owens and her husband, Bobby of Lexington; six grandchildren, Tony Owens, Jeffrey Owens and his wife Shelley, Dale Rea Middleton and her husband, Andy , Robin Garrison and her husband Chris, Greg Gobble and his wife Jodie, and Lisa Gobble Brown. Also surviving are twelve great grandchildren, Lauren Gobble, Katie Brown, Kellie Brown, Cole Middleton, Alicia Middleton, Chase Middleton, and Cody Middleton, Tanner Garrison, Logan Garrison, Jason Owens, Brooke Owens, and Zachary Owens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the home of the daughter, Annelle Owens, 2394 Becky Hill Road, Lexington, NC 27295 Memorials may be made to the Chime Fund of Friendship United Methodist Church, 2840 Friendship Church Road, Lexington, NC 27295 or to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Piedmont Center, 1401-B Old Mill Circle, Winston-Salem, NC 27103
