Billy John Martin, 78, of Hunt Road died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Thomasville Medical Center. A funeral service will be Friday, December 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor David Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, December 12, 2013 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. Billy was born in Columbus County April 15, 1935 to Coy and Catherine Williamson Martin. He was a retired truck driver for Coble Dairy and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, and had previously attended Spruce Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eldese Nance Bradley, wife Margie Mae Martin who died in 2004, his parents, a son, Paul Shambley, and a brother, Russell Martin. Surviving are sons Stephen Pope and Emery Martin of Southmont, Gary Martin of Linwood, and Marvin Martin of Mocksville; daughters, Vickie Lee of High Point, Margaret Elliot of Lexington, and Billie Jean Martin of Richmond, Va.; brothers, Coy Martin of Windell, and Doug Martin of Lexington; grandchildren,Melissa Daniel, Amanda Martin, Michael Martin, Larry Martin, Chris Martin, Mitchell Ivey, Steven Ivey, Janice Ivey, Dane Martin, Ashley Epley, Brandon Epley, Mark Martin, Ginny Shambley, Michelle Bowens, Kim Shambley, Christal Pope, Jeremy Pope, Chris Smith, Alicia Finnie, and Danielle Jarvis; and great-grandchildren, Will Daniel, Haylee Little, Dyson Pope, Jakob Bowens, Chyanne Shambley, Noah Laflur, Timothy Queen, Victoria Martin, Madison Martin, Taylor Martin, Kelsey Little, Aubrey Martin, Issac Epley, Hayden Epley, and Donovan Ivey.
