Mrs. Betty Roberts Simerson, 76 of Westwood Lane, Lexington, died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at her residence. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday November 25, 2009 from the Lakeview Baptist Church in Linwood, with Rev. David Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Simerson was born March 8, 1930 in Buncombe County to the late James Wesley Roberts and Delilah Ponder Roberts. Mrs. Simerson was also preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Simerson, Sr., who died in 2002. She was also preceded in death by a brother Loyd Roberts and a sister Evelyn Thompson. She was a self-employed beautician, and had worked as a ward secretary at Lexington Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Simerson was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where she had served as church organist. Mrs. Simerson is survived by a son, Billy Joe Simerson, Jr and wife Karen; by daughters Sheila Williams and husband Norman of Raleigh and Mitiz Davidson and husband Jordan of Mocksville; a brother James Roberts and wife Mary of Defuniak Springs, Fla; a sister Dorothy Nester and husband Pawnee of Lexington; grandchildren Sherry Lynn Phillips, B. J. Simerson and wife Emily, Justin Miller and wife Stephanie, Aaron Miller and Amanda Simerson; great grandchildren Caitlyn Miller, Kynley Simerson, Brittany Phillips and Wesley Williams. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence on Westwood Lane. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or Davidson County Cancer Services, 25 W. 6th Ave., Lexington, NC 27292 The family would like to give special thanks to Brenda Powers for her loving care.
