Betty Jean Nichols Potts, 75, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Lexington Medical Center, after an extended illness. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Greene officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Potts was born August 31, 1935, in Davidson County to the late Ed and Lola Wood Nichols. She was preceded in death by her brothers; William (Bill) Nichols, James D. Nichols and Winfred Nichols, and a sister, Virginia Lafferty. Survivors include are husband; Hoyle Potts of Comanche Trail, Lexington; sons, Rick Potts and wife Edie of Mocksville, Greg Potts and wife Pam of Lexington; daughter, Lynn Brown and husband Mike of Lexington; brothers, Barry Nichols of Thomasville; brother in law, John Potts of Lexington, and sister Helen Hedrick of Thomasville; Her loving memory will be cherished by her grandchildren; Katie Decker and her husband Shane, Sarah Watkins and her husband Matt all of Lexington, Daniel Potts of Mocksville, and Amanda Truell ; great-grandchildren Callie Decker of Lexington and Noah Potts of Mocksville. At all other times the family will be at the home of her daughter Lynn Brown on Smith Road. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Alston Brook for their love and care to “Miss Betty”.
