Betty Kate Mccarn

Mrs. Betty Kate Edwards McCarn, 80, of Genesis Health Care, Salisbury, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the nursing center. A funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Brian Alexander. Visitation will be from 2-3 PM before the service at the funeral home. Betty was born April 3, 1936 in Dungannon, VA to Edward Garland and Sally Hicks Edwards. She was formerly employed at the former Link-Taylor Furniture Corporation and attended Center Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward McCarn in 2013, and a son, David McCarn. Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Diana McCarn Griffith of Richfield; brothers John Edwards (Francis) and James Edwards all of Lexington, and Wilburn Edwards of VA; and sisters Virginia Duty of Asheboro, and Shirley Fritts (Danny) of Denton. Also surviving are grandsons Michael and Cody of Richfield, and great-grandson Colton David McCarn. Memorials may be made to Center Hill Baptist Church, 3759 NC Hwy. 8, Lexington, NC 27292.
