Betty Carol Godwin

Betty Carol West Godwin, 69, of Lamb Road died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, July 7, 2017 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robbie Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM prior to the service at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Tommy and Angie West, 1337 Boone’s Cave Rd., Lexington, NC. Mrs. Godwin was born in Columbus County on December 6, 1947 to the late George Currie West and Mary Ella Garner West. She was a homemaker, of the Baptist faith, and formerly employed by Leggett-Platt, Inc. Preceding her in death was her husband, David Franklin Godwin, daughter, Tammy Godwin Hutchins, grandson Johnathan Hutchens, and sisters Mary Elizabeth Lee and Judy West Polk. Surviving are son George Godwin (Tammy) of Kings Mountain; brothers Tommy West (Angie) and Johnny West all of Lexington, Wayne Stone (Rita) of Randleman, and Jerry Stone (Brenda) of Virginia; sister Grace Stone Fancera of Welcome; grandchildren Mykel Waddell, Cayla Long (Lucas), and Ian Godwin; and great-grandchildren Trever (Possum) Long, and Tucker (Coon) Long. Also surviving are good family friend, Keith Costner, special aunts Peggy Lee and Carolyn Dudley, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
