Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Hailey

Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Leonard Hailey, 70, of Westside Drive Extension, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Health -- Lexington Medical Center. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Lexington City Cemetery by the Rev. Joe Solomon. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. before the service at Piedmont Funeral Home. Bobbie was born in Davidson County on Feb. 12, 1945, to David Baxter and Lora Smith Leonard. She retired from the Davidson County Detention Center after 12 years of service and enjoyed cooking. An avid collector of salt and pepper shakers, she was a homemaker and a member of True Word Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Richard Hailey; granddaughter Brandi McCrary; and sisters Mary Elizabeth Leonard and Elva Leonard Ward. Surviving are son Tony Leroy Hailey, daughter Melissa Hailey and granddaughter Cheyenne Hailey of the home; sons Bobby Ray Hailey of Linwood and Dwayne Baxter Hailey of Lexington; brothers David Leonard Jr. (Nancy) of Lexington and William Daniel Leonard (Gloria) of Loris, South Carolina; brother-in-law Giles Ward of Lexington; sister-in-law Doris Jean Allen of Lexington; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and special sister Brenda Tilley of Lexington In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to True Word Baptist Church, attn: Rev. Joe Solomon, 519 W. Fifth Ave., Lexington, NC 27292.
