Barbara Owens Allred

Barbara Owens Allred, 85, of Ervin Drive, died Monday, April 8 at Brookdale of Lexington.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, April 13 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Vern Kinard.  Burial will follow at Sandy Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 PM Saturday at the church prior to the service in Pless Hall.

Barbara was born January 14, 1934 in Davidson County to Raymond Sanford Owens and Kathleen Fritts Owens.  She retired from Energy United and later worked at Piedmont Funeral Home for many years. Barbara was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and was a member of Lexington Civitan Club and attended Lenoir-Rhyne University.   She enjoyed playing bridge and traveling to the beach. Her sisters, Leona Sink and Frances Bea Frye, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Myers (Kim), and Britt Myers, both of Lexington; her daughter, Terri Myers Brady of Winston Salem; her brother, Raymond “Sandy” Owens of Lexington; her sister, Becky Causby (Ralph) of Greensboro; and her grandchildren, Jason Myers (Blair) of Raleigh, and Dr. Olivia Myers of Washington, NC; and her great-grandchildren, Harrison and Anderson Myers of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4299 S. NC Highway 150, Lexington NC 27295.
