Augustus Elwood Curtis, Jr.

Augustus Elwood Curtis, Jr., 92, of Old Linwood Road, died Monday at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Messer officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Curtis was born in Davidson County August 16, 1921 to the late Augustus Elwood Curtis, Sr. and Madge Bates Curtis. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was retired from Printcraft Company after 72 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Mary Rafferty Curtis. Surviving are a son, Thomas Elwood Curtis and wife Martha of Salisbury; daughter, Ina Talley and husband Ron of Lexington; sister, Jackie Roberson of Asheboro; grandchildren, Tony E. Burris Jr., Mary D. Martin, Lisa T. Everhart, and Cindy Curtis ; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren, Gunner and Baby Willie.
