Arthur Carthine Sigmon, Jr.

Arthur Carthine Sigmon, Jr., age 75, of Warf Road, died Friday, February 22, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Health- Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. James Messer. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM before the service at the church. Arthur was born on June 29, 1937 in Rowan County to Arthur Carthine Sigmon Sr. and Helen Winders Sigmon. He was a member of Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church and was a veteran of The US Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Brookshire Sigmon on October 11, 2012. Surviving are: sons, Arthur Sigmon III and wife Brenda and Gilbert Sigmon and wife Anita all of Salisbury; daughters, Rhonda McNutt and husband David of Hartselle, Ala., and Deborah Carol Meredith and husband Steve of Spencer; seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Cindi Moorefield and husband Bill of Lexington.
