Ann Lucille Spivey

Ann Lucille DeLaney Spivey, 79, of Welcome died Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday January 16, 2012 at Wesley Heights United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jay Belk officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Spivey was born May 27, 1932 in Williamsport, Pa. to the late Guy and Ruth Koch DeLaney. She was preceded in death by her husband John Carroll Spivey. She was a graduate of The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. As a teacher , she had taught at North Davidson Senior High School and retired from the Lexington City School System. She was a member of the NCAE, and was very active in The United Methodist Women of her church. Music was the passion of Ann’s life in both teaching and performing. Surviving are sons Carroll DeLaney Spivey and wife Carolyn of Lexington; Glenn Eric Spivey and wife Cindy of Jacksonville, Fla; and Guy Matthew Spivey and wife Jody of Lexington; grandchildren, Lauren and Sarah Spivey of Jacksonville, Fla.
