Alvin Lawrence Leath

Alvin Lawrence Leath, age 83, a resident of Linwood-Southmont road, Lexington, died Sunday at his residence. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from the graveside in the Nan Patton Cemetery in Galax, Virginia. Mr. Leath was born in Grayson County, Virginia on February 26, 1924, son of the late Archie Joseph and Rosie Hale Leath. He was a retired employee of PPG and was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WW II. Mr. Leath was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his wife, Inez Akers Leath. He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Sue Leath of Lexington; two sons, Roger Lee Leath, Sr., and his wife, Emma Jean, and Billy Ray Leath all of Lexington; three sisters, Josephine Hancock of Fries, Virginia, Beulah Ring of Galax, Virginia; and Bertha Bedsaul of Independence, Virginia; a brother, John Leath of Lexington. He is also survived by, two grandchildren, Dama Potts and her husband, Jeff, and Roger Lee Leath, Jr., and his wife, Wendy, four great grandchildren, Tanner Potts, Ryan Leath, Austin Leath, Kayla Leath. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home.
