Alice Elizabeth Swicegood

July 14, 1912 — October 10, 2010

On the wings of angels, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Alice Elizabeth Perryman Swicegood, 98 of Alston Brook formerly of Enterprise Road, Lexington, died Sunday, October 10, 2010. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday October 13, 2010, from the Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Swicegood was born July 14, 1912 in Davidson County to the late William Isaac Perryman and Chrissie Idelia Leonard Perryman. Her husband William M. Swicegood also preceded her in death in 1999. Alice was a life-long member of the Midway Community and Midway United Methodist Church, where she was the oldest member. She was a member of the Dora Reynolds Circle, Chicken Pie Group, and Fidelis Class. Alice will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, baking and her love of sewing and making beautiful porcelain dolls. Mrs. Swicegood was retired from R. J. Reynolds with 28 years of service. Two brothers also preceded her in death Raymond Perryman and Frank Perryman; three sisters Ellie Miller, Sally Lea Hedrick and Ethel Hedrick; and one son-in-law George Schachle. Survivers include one daughter Nancy Schachle of Reeds; two sons Bill Swicegood and his wife Lorene, Ken Swicegood and his wife Bonnie all of Midway; Grandchildren, Butch Schachle and wife Tauna of Sanford, Keith Schachle and his wife Brenda of Brooks, Georgia, Joe Schachle and his wife Kellie of Raleigh, Kenny Swicegood and his wife Rita, Tina Walters and her husband Jeff, and Mike Swicegood and his wife Avera, all of Midway; Eleven great grandchildren, Jake Schachle and his wife Amanda, Zach Schachle and his wife Abigail, Seth Schachle, Trey Swicegood, Alice Baldwin and her husband John, Megan Swicegood, Brendan, Noland and Evan Schachle, Lori and Kevin Schachle; one step-great-granddaughter, Kristen Shreiner. Alice is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and her many wonderful friends. Many thanks go out to the Alston Brook staff for the wonderful care and love shown to our dear loving mother. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the Christian Fellowship Center at Midway United Methodist Church in Midway. Memorials made be made to Midway United Methodist Church Bus Fund, Attention: Cookie Wilson, 9795 Old Highway 52, Lexington, N.C. 27295.
