Joe Darrell Pope, 78, of Beckingridge Court, Lexington, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Hinkle Hospice House, after an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M.,Wednesday, May 25,2011 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Max Shoaf officiating. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Pope was born January 1, 1933 in Davidson County to the late Joe Hollis Pope and Bertha Hudson Pope. Also prededing him in death were two brothers, Clarence Pope and James Pope; two sisters, Polly Anderson and Viola Vandy. Mr. Pope had been owner operator of Amoco Service and was a supervisor at Young Hinkle Furniture Factory. He was a member of Psalm 91 church.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Foster Pope of the home; 4 sons, Johnny Pope, Joe D. Pope, Ronald Sink and his wife Margaret, Chad Sink and his Fiance` Rose Kearns all of Lexington; 2 daughters, Robin Sink of High Point and Martha Lineback of Lexington. Also special friend and fishing buddy Todd LeBeau; 10 Grandchildren, Brent Lineback, Kendra Barker, Justin Sink, Geoffrey Sink, Aimee Sink, Caleb Sink, Landon LeBeau, Haley LeBeau, Jacob Pope, Joseph Pope; 2 great-grandchildren, Carter Lineback, and Brayden Barker.
The family would like to thank the staff at Abbotts Creek Nursing home for his care during his stay.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M.
